As the president of the Japan Society of Coloproctology (JSCP), I am profoundly delighted to inform you that the Journal of the Anus, Rectum and Colon (JARC) is now the official journal of JSCP in partnership with Kyorinsha Co., Ltd.

JARC is the first Open Access journal specific to the field of coloproctology in Japan, publishes four times a year, and is dedicated to rapidly promoting and advancing the science, knowledge, and practice of coloproctology from Japan. The journal publishes original research articles, case reports, review articles, practice guidelines, clinical research, “How I do it,” and letters to the editor. The journal mainly welcomes original research and review articles, and the publication fees are free for the members of JSCP. Case reports are rarely accepted and will be considered only if they present a breakthrough or otherwise compelling events in coloproctology. These will require a publication fee in principal.

I hope that the members of JSCP contribute to the accumulation of a lot of novel evidence for the development of coloproctology in the world through JARC.
